Arturo Riera is Mister Latin Jazz. He is an active member of the Bay Area Arts and Cultural community. A member of the Board of Directors of San Jose Jazz from 2005-2015, Riera served two years as Chair and serves as the Latin Curator for San Jose Jazz Summerfest which is the largest cultural event in Silicon Valley presenting over 100 acts in 3 days. In April 2007 Arturo was elected Chair of the Board of San Francisco's Yerba Buena Arts and Events, producer of the outdoor Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, presenting 100 FREE Concerts and Cultural events a year. He served on the Board of Yerba Buena Gardens Festival from 2004-2015. In 2008 Riera was nominated for the Silicon Valley Arts and Business Leadership Award. In 2007 he received the Latino Business Leadership award from the San Francisco Latino Chamber of Commerce, the first award ever given for Arts and Culture. In 2007 he received commendations from the United States House of Representatives, California State Legislature, California State Senate and the City and County of San Francisco recognizing his contributions to Bay Area Arts and Culture. Riera is co-founder and Managing Director of The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble of San Francisco, a 10 year old youth performance and education group with a 100% scholarship provided for all members. He co-founded Latino Entertainment Partners, an event production company specializing in Latin jazz and Afro-Cuban music. He produced The Latin Jazz Youth Ensemble's CD, LJYE Live at Yoshi's, released in January 2006, GENERACIONES released in January 2010 and Con Mis Manos released in 2016 on the Riera Digital Entertainment label. Riera served on the production staff of the Monterey Jazz Festival for 10 years as the Latin Percussion Tech. He is a prolific writer and photographer of the Bay Area Latin jazz scene.
